The 2025 Hong Kong Race Week was a thrilling event that showcased the growing enthusiasm for youth sailing in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Schools Sailing Association (HKSSA), in collaboration with Plover Cove Sailing Club (PCSC), proudly supported two young sailors—Jimmy and Damiano—as they made their racing debut in the Optimist Green Fleet. This momentous occasion marked an important milestone in their sailing journey, demonstrating their courage and passion for the sport.
Jimmy and Damiano, both graduates of the Optimist Level 4 training program, took on the challenges of their first major regatta with determination and enthusiasm. The Optimist Green Fleet provides a beginner-friendly environment that allows young sailors to gain valuable experience in a competitive setting. Through this event, they honed their skills, navigated race strategies, and built confidence that will prepare them for more advanced competitions in the future.
The Hong Kong Schools Sailing Association and Plover Cove Sailing Club are committed to fostering youth sailing development in Hong Kong. By providing structured training programs, sailing workshops, and hands-on regatta experience, we aim to inspire more children to take up sailing as a lifelong sport.
